Many Americans and Canadians own second homes in Mexico. It can become very frustrating if you are currently not in Mexico and you have a bill due. Some homeowners rely on property managers to pay their bills for them. Sometimes, those managers can become unreliable and you find yourself having to find a way to pay the bill yourself before things get turned off. You try to make the payment online and it just won't accept your credit card or bank account information. Some homeowners try to put several hundred dollars on their bills before leaving Mexico so they have a credit to the account.
I have discovered a website that you can use to pay your bills while being in the United States or Canada. The website is www.XOOM.com They can pay electric, gas, cable and telephone bills for you. You can also send money to people in other countries through this website. You can also pay bills in other countries other than Mexico. XOOM does charge a transaction fee but it is relatively inexpensive.
Registering at XOOM.com is free and easy to set up! For example, if you are wanting to pay your CFE electric bill, all you will need is your account number. Once you type in your 30 digit account number, your balance due will appear. They will charge a transaction fee for making the payment for you. The transaction fee is $2.99. You can also track the payment on their website. It may take up to 2 business days for the payment to be processed. XOOM accepts checks, debit cards and credit cards. Tip: If you use a credit card, you may be charged a "Cash Advance Fee" depending on your credit card guidelines. My credit card charges a $10.00 or greater fee for using this company.
