Directions: Head to Puerto Los Cabos in San Jose Del Cabo. Cross the bridge going towards Puerto Los Cabos. Go around 4 "round-a-bouts" and keep straight through each one. At the fourth "round-a-bout" you are going to take the road towards the left. The signs say "Cabo del este/East Cape". You will also see signs that say "El Encanto de la Laguna". Follow these signs. Go about 3 miles and you will see a small "round-a-bout". At this "round-a-bout" you are going to make a right. There is a sign pointing right towards "El Encanto de la Laguna". You will take this road to the bottom of the hill and then you will make a left. This road is then going to turn into a dirt road. You will see beaches where you can pull off, park and enjoy the beach. There are palapas at certain beaches.
If you are looking to surf, you will be driving much further along this road. Two well-known surfing breaks are Shipwrecks and Nine Palms. I would recommend using your odometer to clock how many miles you drive. It is estimated to be about 8 or 9 miles to Shipwrecks and about 6 miles further to get to Nine Palms. There is no signage at either spot to let you know that you have reached your destination. Below are photos of Nine Palms. Located around Shipwrecks is a Tienda on the left side of the road called "Tienda Shipwrecks" (see photo).
On our way back we saw signs to Puerto Los Cabos and San Jose Del Cabo, I wouldn't necessarily recommend following these signs. They take you towards a two lane highway that has been washed out in many areas and the road is crumbling. I would recommend following the same dirt road that you took traveling from El Encanto de la Laguna. If you do happen to follow the signs like we did, it will take you back to San Jose in about the same amount of time.
